PSYCHOTHERAPY
Therapy will give you tools to help guide you in your “new normal” with
new confidence over life’s challenges in the here and now.

It is my therapeutic aim to understand and support the psychological impact of cancer and to empower a person regardless of the cancer stage or treatment modality to have a continuous quality of life and psychological growth within the boundaries of the illness. Onco-psychology offers critical support and knowledge to help individuals and families adapt, cope and find strength throughout their oncology journey.
The diagnosis of cancer and its treatment can be life-changing and may cause significant changes in routines, relationships and established lifestyle habits. These changes are often unexpected and sudden allowing limited time for adjustment.
The Psychotherapy Journey
Preparing the patient and family with knowledge about the illness and treatment and side-effects during alle stages of cancer, learning practical, emotional and behavioural skills to help with life adjustments and management of self-awareness and emotions.

Psychological support at the point of diagnosis is important to ensure that you can manage both the physical impact of the illness and the psychological and social challenges that it brings. Good mental health will contribute to your adherence to the treatment, long term coping and survival rate. Emotional expression during therapy can have a positive effect for it allows you to be aware of your feelings and cognitions, deal with it and become aware of choices they can make to lessen some of your distress.

Early detection and treatment for psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety and post- traumatic stress disorder is of great value for the you and your family. If you have a history of depression and/or anxiety your chances are good that you can develop symptoms of a mood disorder.
